The market of car spare parts for passenger vehicles is distinguished into two wider product categories, the so called "genuine" spare parts which are imported by car dealers and "after - market" spare parts which are imported by companies which operate in the automobile sector in general. The demand for spare parts is directly related to the number and age of the car fleet and is influenced by the selling price of the products combined with the available income of the vehicle owners.
The total sales (in value) of spare parts for passenger vehicles increased by 14.4% (compared to 2020) as a result of the increase in demand following the significant decline recorded in 2020 (-15% 2020/19).
In 2021 the market of genuine spare parts registered a rise of 18.5% compared to 2020, while the sales of after-market spare parts increased by 11.4% during the same year.
After-market spare parts have accounted for 56.4% of the total market value of spare parts for passenger vehicles and genuine spare parts accounted for 43.6%.
