The sector of livestock feed consists of a significant number of manufacturers (businesses, cooperative associations), which market their products to livestock and poultry units. Meanwhile, there are verticalized units of livestock breeding which also produce animal feeds that are intended for own consumption. The sector of pet food includes importers and manufacturers.
The size of the total domestic consumption of compound livestock feeds (in quantity) registered a fall in 2020 (-1.9% 2020/2019) while the total value of the market slightly dropped in 2020 compared to 2019 (+0.8%).
The size of the total domestic consumption of pet feeds increased by 5.4% in 2020 compared to the previous year. The total value of the market (in bulk prices) increased by 2.5% during the same period.
The category of poultry feeds accounted for the largest part of the market (49%) in 2020, followed by feeds for sheep and lambs (26%) and livestock (11.5%). Pig feed accounted for 6%, while the remaining 7.5% was consumed by other animals, such as rabbits and horses.
