The sector of retail chains for clothing consists of a large number of companies, which differ in terms of the extent (number of stores) and manner of development of the sales network (corporate stores, franchising, shop - in - shop.).
The overall sales of retail chains for clothing increased by 4.6% in 2019/18, while they dropped by 30% in 2020/19 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The overall domestic market of retail chains for clothing started recovering in 2014, registering a fall of 31.7% in 2020 due to the pandemic. The sales of clothes accounted for 75% of the overall sales of the particular retail chains in 2020.
Women’s clothing had the lion’s share in the overall sales of clothes of chains in 2020 (51%) followed by men’s clothing (28.9%) and children’s clothing (20.1%).
The sales of the sector’s e-shops recorded a significant increase in 2020 as they are estimated at about 16% of total sales.
