The annual installed capacity of photovoltaic systems in Greece reported an impressive development during 2011-2013. Since then it has registered a sharp fall and was particularly low in 2017. According to data from both the Hellenic Association of Photovoltaic Companies (SEF) and DAPEEP, the new installed capacity showed a small recovery in 2019. Therefore, the photovoltaic market has been on the rise. In 2020 new installed capacity of photovoltaic systems registered a sharp rise compared to 2019. The photovoltaic market value decreased by 10.9% in 2021 compared to 2020.
New installed capacity of wind systems registered a fall in 2021 compared to the previous year (-34.5%). Over the last decade, new installed capacity of wind systems has registered fluctuations, reaching its peak in 2019, 747 MW. 2019 was a "record" year for the wind energy sector, which despite the decline recorded in 2020-2021 is still of investment interest.
