The total market of graphic arts increased by an average annual rate of 3.7% during 2000-2008, while in the following years and up to 2014 there was a decline, with an average annual reduction rate of 7.7%. Over the five-pear period (2015-2019), the market recovered. Particularly, in 2019 the total market (in value) registered a rise of 2.4% compared to 2018. However, the upward trend was halted in 2020 due to Covid-19. The total market of graphic arts dropped by 5% in 2020 compared to 2019.
The category of printing on “flexible packaging materials and cartons” had the lion’s share in the market of graphic arts in 2020 (23% each). The category of magazines and newspapers has suffered more than the others, showing a cumulative decline of 75% in the period 2007 -2020. Its share decreased by 11.5% in 2020 followed by the category of brochures which accounted for 12.8% of the total market of graphic arts. The remaining categories (computer papers, books, paper labels etc.) had smaller shares.
