Expenditure of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs for secondary education increased by 4.7% in 2018 compared to 2017.
Expenditure on secondary education tuition centres and private lessons showed a cumulative decrease in the period 2011-2016, which amounted to 33.1% (tuition centres 2011/16: 28%, lessons: -40.9%).
As regards the total private secondary education expenditure for 2016, expenditure on tuition centres accounted for 37% and on private lessons for 20% (the remaining expenditure mainly concerns foreign language learning). In total, all private spending on education covers the combined costs of 28%.
The overall annual expenditure on foreign language courses registered a cumulative fall in 2016 which amounted to 26% during the period 2011-2016.
