The total domestic consumption of cement shows an average annual growth rate of approximately 3% in the period 2016-2021. The total domestic production / consumption of concrete followed an upward trend in the period 2016-2021 and in 2021 it recorded an increase of 6.4% in relation to 2020. The prefecture of Attica accounted for approximately 30% of the total production in 202, the prefecture of Thessaloniki accounted for 10% while the remaining 60% concerns production in the rest of the country.
It is estimated that, 70%-75% of the total cement consumption is traded in bulk in the domestic market and is mainly used for the production of concrete as well as concrete products. Also, 65%-70% of bulk cement consumption is absorbed by ready-mix concrete companies.
